Reviews for Samsung Smart Switch Mobile
Edit , I didn't see the Samsung only thought it would work between android phones. ⭐ trying to transfer between moto and Samsung wifi forget about it, cable it keeps telling me to change the USB to MPT which nothing in the USB controller says that anymore and selecting the file transfer doesn't work either. Between my 2 galaxy phones it's works fine.
I've never had a problem and I've used it every year since the S6. I now have 3 Samsungs and none of which have had issues with the app either. There's also no bloatwear so idk what they're talking about. This is one of, if not the most efficient transfer apps actually on Android, and obviously iPhone. If you're having issues with it, I suggest going to your carrier to do the transfer. They are trained and well versed on Smart Switch.
Still very impressed. Backed up my previous phone to a new phone, followed the instructions, no issue. Be mindful that the USB cable does not move, else disconnects. Also, one phone must have USB Charging changed to "Data Transfer", else one or both phones will just shut off. After the transfer, give it some time. It took about ½hr after the transfer to be a fully functional clone.
Does not transfer Meta data of any kind. All of my pictures are now time and location stamped with the transfer so they are all taken at the exact same time and place. It also didnt transfer a single app setting or login. Every app was like it was freshly downloaded with default preferences that aren't tied to an account. On top of that having them download through Smart Switch overwrites the notification sound irriverably to whatever your phone wide default sound is without reinstalling.
Tried to use it to switch from my LG K51 to a Galaxy S10+. No option would work. Transferring by cable didnt work. Transferring by WiFi didn't work, just kept disconnecting. I was about to give up and look up an alternate transfer app, when I decided to use my USB-C adapter with a flash drive I had to transfer the data from my old phone. It was the only option that worked, but none of my app data was transferred, nor was the position of each app on the home screen transferred. Very unsatisfied.
Does not connect, does not work. Also wants way too many permissions. How does an app that copies data to another immediately next to it need location data? // There is no reason to contact anyone. The app does not connect over wireless as you can see in other reviews. I have transferred the data without this app that doesn't work. This symptom is not special to me. Many others are repporting the same thing. Your app is bad.
Terrible app. I used it to transfer data from pixel 1 to 53a 5G. It transferred only phone contact and messages. All other programs were reinstalled without any of my settings. List of medications, reminders, shopping lists, contacts from messenger, viber, Skype. I suspect it didn't install some phone apps properly. There is no access to voicemail. The old one is sitting on the screen like a new one for ever.
This took over 2 hours. It got stuck at 82% for 30 min (all the while saying 1 min left), so I tried restarting it. Then it crashed 6 times at various points in the process. Then I restarted both phones, tried again, and it got stuck at 94% (with 1 min left). I let it go for 45 minutes (all at 1 min left), and then it finally finished a whole 2+ hours after I first started. I have never felt so gas lit by an app.
They really should have called this Samsung Dumb Switch, because there's nothing smart about it. It gets to a very consistent percentage partway through the 'transfer', then the new phone says it lost connection. But the best part is that even after losing connection, it keeps running the old phone at full throttle until it overheats, and the only way to stop it is to use the app manager to force stop the app.
A while ago, moving between Pixel phones, everything just worked. I love my Samsung phones, but this app has always been awful. This last time, I lost a lot of internal storage data, including podcasts, which I can't download again. Some apps didn't restore properly, so I had to clear data, including medication history, saved games. Some links to Play Store broke, so to restore purchases, I had to uninstall and reinstall apps. Please grant this app permissions to /Android/* and copy everything.
