Reviews for SmartThings
I use this mostly for my headset connection, which I hop on/off all day. Most of the time the display isn't accurate as to whether the device is connected. Additionally, the location button for each paired device jumps around upon opening and doesn't settle in the same spot so I have to hunt for the device each time I try to connect/disconnect. Annoying.
It shouldn't be so difficult to try and connect a device to the application. After logging into the app and authenticating you should not be required to reautheticate to connect a device each time. Additionally the two step authentication sucks and doesn't work. I've entered the code correctly each time but get sent a new code to try again. I've tried back up codes but those don't work because the app is so sensitive it enters when I switch back
Nothing works. Can't add devices. Also can't change locations when invited to another location. All "features" of app just give me a loading symbol forever. Garbage. Somehow it works on my wife's phone, but not mine. Both pixel phones. UPDATE: wow actually got a response. Uninstalling and reinstalling worked. App leaves a bit to be desired, but happy for the good service.
Updating simply to change opinion. Still same 2 stars. After 3 years almost, i still dislike this UI. I also notice that there's no smooth way to integrate Google Home items without them being shown as a separate thing or causing the random duplication. It also feels as if some functionality has been stripped. I remember there being phone setting controls and now I don't find them anywhere.
It literally only worked for about 5 minutes. I got this app to use with my new Samsung smart TV. After setting everything up on the TV & my phone, the remote control functions worked great... until the first time I closed the app. Nothing on the app has worked since. I can see my devices, but I can't interact with them at all. In fact, I can't interact with much of anything in the app now. All I can do is look at stuff. I can't change or even click on almost anything. Absolute garbage app.
The only thing I want to use the SmartThings app for is to find smart-tags that I have attached to keys. When I open the app and see the devices, I try to find them (by ringing). The app apparently tries to download the "SmartThings Find" add-on but never does so successfully. Yes, the app tells me the key is in my home, but if I can't get it to ring, that doesn't help me all that much.
This is by far the worst interfacing app I've had the displeasure of using, I simply need a Casting/Smart view feature/app, but since the A52 doesn't support the feature, I'm forced to haphazardly navigate this unclear mess of an app. All of my T.V.s are vizio brand, and this app only easily recognizes Samsung products, as opposed to previous usability, I would rather use an ad filled app, than deal with this mess.
Almost pointless. Doesn't tell me anything about my devices. All you can do is change settings and get notified of generic events that are annoying. My fridge lost power, no notification. My fridge temp too high, no notification. My dishwasher lost power, no notification. My dishwasher was paused, no reminder. Oh but it will ping me a notification literally every time someone opens the fridge door. Why?
I used to be able to hit the "my home" section of my widget, and it would take me straight to my "favorites" page in the app. Now it opens up to my animation. How do I change it back?? It's annoying to have to go through another step to get to the remotes/devices. Also why is the "my home" missing on the scenes widget?? I like that size but I need the "my home" for easy access to the remote. If the app got updated, the updates suck.
Update: This app has somehow become EVEN WORSE!!! I deleted it and reinstalled it and now it cannot even connect to my tv or download the device controller! It keeps saying there is a network error and all it can do it turn the dang tv on and off NOTHING ELSE! So worthless, Samsung has truly failed. I have the Samsung Frame. This app sucks for this tv. I cannot upload my own photos. I keep getting an error message that my phone and tv must be on the same network (they are!). This is a bad app.
