Reviews for IFTTT - Automate work and home

This app is not perfect, but then again what app is? The app has so many possibilities, but what you do with it is limited by your devices. For example to have it turn off your WiFi when you leave home, then you will need to allow the permissions it needs you do that and have either GPS enabled or WiFi Scanning or some way for it to know when you leave home. Same with services if you want to use the Google WiFi Services, for example, then you need to have the Google Mesh. It's an easy app to use, so learn the basics and give it a try, there is so much you can do with the help of just one app.

Boy, it sure seemed like I could no longer create new custom applet routines. I thought the developers abandoned the project. But wait! You have to click "Get More" at the very bottom of the home screen (not to be confused with "View All"). Then you can click the plus button next to the tiny little text at the top that says "make your own applets from scratch." Horrible UI change. But it DOES still work. 3 stars because of UI.

Very inconsistent. Works great, when it works. Have tried multiple applets, all of them seem to just stop working for no reason whatsoever - completely at random. I can usually get them working again by disabling/enabling, but you never know when they stop working if you're not keeping an eye on them. I use them for arming my security system, so having a consistent process that I can rely on to work is pretty important. IFTT needs to improve consistency before you can depend on these 100%...

Stop using it and don't invest your time into an app you can't trust. For years it was free, worked great, and provided a great service. Now they're charging a fairly high monthly fee to people for using those same features. It's reasonable to charge for new things or a small monthly or one time app fee (something has to pay the bills), but they're moving towards a $10/month model for anything short of very basic functionality.

Galaxy S8 note device. Newest OS. I have a technical background. I verified this application is not being optimized, I verified the battery optimization is disabled. I get a notification majority of the time that the application is running in the background. However, some of the most commonly used applets with hundreds of thousands of subscribers are not working including the following. Turn Wi-Fi off when leaving location, turn Wi-Fi on when entering a location. Would not recommend.

Previously one of the best apps. Unfortunately, it's now nearly unusable. A major portion of the features no longer function reliably such as location, wifi connection, or even notifications. Not to mention it has one of the worst UIs for user experience and does it's best to hide features and functionality. I can't think of an app that has a UI that contradicts common sense and best practices more than this one. Pass on IFTTT unless you absolutely need it.

I've used this app for at least 2-3 years. In a recent update, they turned their app into a monthly subscription service. They want $9.99 PER MONTH to use features that make the app useful. Those features were free before, so what exactly are we paying for? Ten dollars is way, way too much! At that price I'd rather buy Netflix/Hulu. You know - an actual service. While using other user's applets is free, the search function has no filter, so finding applets is painfully slow, IF you find one.

All I wanted was an app to put my phone into silent mode when I was at work, which I could never get this app to do that. One idea I had was connecting to a Bluetooth device I have at work and put into normal sound mode when disconnecting from the same device. But the only option is "Whenever it connects to ANY Bluetooth device", not just a specific one. I can't comment on how it works with complex social media apps, but I just needed it to do a simple automated task and it failed miserably.
