Reviews for MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter
The app has great functionality. Everything you need to track your progress and reach your goals. What most impresses me though is the customer service. Just yesterday on 30Jun2022, the app started to crash upon opening. Emailed customer service, they replied quickly and thoroughly, and the bug was fixed later that day. Incredible.
Update: Problem is fixed. So annoyed.. I've been using this app since March and overall I love it. Super helpful. Even bought premium for extra support when I needed it. I dont want my exercise calories counted in to my total calories. I just want to know what I've eaten. Didn't use to be a problem. Now you have to pay to have that option. Super-duper annoyed. Definitely won't ever buy premium again simply out of principle.
I enjoy this app a lot... Only thing I would add is the ability to change recipes after I put them in my log. I sometimes forget to add something and am unable to change to recipes name or ingredients. I also can't delete recipes which can be a bit annoying. But other than that it has helped me tremendously with eating and exercise habits.
All of these updates and still no way to change foods. There are certain foods I don't eat, so when I search for them on MFP - and they contain said ingredients in them - it literally becomes a guessing game as to how many calories/macros in ingesting. I've been a user for years, and equally frustrated for that same amount of time. I do not think it's necessary to have to pay for a subscription to have this function available.
The app itself has been very helpful for me this year starting my weightloss journey. However the layout redesign from a few weeks ago is very unappealing to me. I dont feel like it's as user friendly/easy to navigate as it used to be. I will continue to use it but I wouldn't mind seeing a more streamlined layout. Especially navigating the weight progression. I do like the ability to add multiple foods at a time for meals.
Typically a rather reliable tool, even for the free version. Been using it for 390 days in a row and it is easy to use. Only thing is that the last update keeps messing with my food logs. When I delete a food and replace it with something else, the old food would keep popping up in my log as if I ate it. This has been making calorie counting a bit tedious because I have to keep double checking to make sure removed foods don't keep popping back on my food log when I close the app and reopen it.
I've been using the app for years, it's a very useful tool. I was excited when I saw that they were updating the dashboard. Overall, it seems ok. I was bummed to see that there is no shortcut to add water. The older app had a widget that I used all the time, it was great to quickly add things. It had an "add water" button making it really convenient. The new widget has no such thing, I searched everywhere for it in settings. I contacted tech support to ask directly & haven't heard anything.
Where did the smaller widget go all of a sudden?? It literally just vanished today. I think it was 1x3 (or 3x1, whatever, it was short and horizontal), and it was perfect! Now the only widgets available are massive 4x2 and take up way too much space on my desktop. Please bring back better, smaller widget options, not just the two giant options currently available.
This app used to be good. Very simple easy to add food to the diary. Then they "updated". There are so many extraneous bells and whistles and locating what you need has become a navigational nightmare. Probably one of the most user unfriendly apps. Can't remove foods from history. Food I logged at dinner shows up under breakfast I can't locate half the foods I log on a daily basis but they keep all the food I logged once. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
My original review was a 5 Star as this App helped me drop 35 pounds. Recently the App has become awful. They have made a good deal of great improvements. At the same time, if you do exercise, it subtracts the exercise from your available calories. Example: You have 1000 calories available, you exercise for 100 plus, yet your available calories drop to 900. I tried to contact customer service, but once you fill out your request, it sends you directly to a QA type situation. It's a nightmare.
