Reviews for Diablo Immortal
Game play is great, it looks, feels and sounds like a good light Diablo game. Addictive even for the gamplay and controls are great; UI is good not perfect but good. Where this game fails though is the micro transactions, bundles, premium pass and premium currency. It is so bad that they are pissing on the consumer and not even trying to call it rain. Almost all purchases only apply to one character. Could have been the best game on mobile but shot itself in the foot with the transactions.
Started out great. There is a bug that causes you to lose all progress and items you gained. I have maintained the same server with the same account and device to login. I have repaired and completely reinstalled the game. It is beyond frustrating and I am will to change my rating when they fix this issue. It's almost impossible to submit a bug report through the forums so I am placing this here.
The gameplay is fun. Controls are responsive, action is fluid, dynamic events, and lots of loot drops. My only complaint with the gameplay is there's no talent tree. You have to find/buy rare drops in order to change how skills perform. What really kills the game is the monetization and leveling/currency systems. Over 20 currency/leveling systems. It's too much and it's a maze trying to figure out what gets you what. Maxed a monk and have zero interest in progressing beyond the 60 level cap.
very very pay to win. The beginning of the game was a fantastic experience. after you hit the end game content, it can get boring and a waste of time due to the hidden caps in the game. the hidden caps include how much legendary items you get per day, gems and loot itself. The repetitive bounties and forced parties for dungeons which you can't complete solo in the harder difficulty is a hassle.
I have been waiting to play this ever since I got news on it. Has some really good potential for sure, but sadly has been killed by microtransations, just like every other mobile game. Story is "ok" but not riveting enough to keep my on the edge of my seat. Gameplay feels fluid, and diablo like, sadly the main part that made diablo 3 amazing was the gear you could play around with. Unfortunately everything is class locked, and not really customizable at all. I have more to say, but out of room.
Made it to level 60 without spending any money, but the pop ups to spend are insane. You need to pay to unlock so many things, even to get the loot from finishing a dungeon! Tons of different mats with different effects that guess what - you can pay for with real money. It was somewhat fun (if you liked Diablo 3 then you'd like this game), but really ruined by the amount of predatory monetization. I would stay far far away from this game, especially kids or anyone prone to gambling addiction.
Thanks for screwing up my phone, Blizzard. World of Warcraft with a Diablo mod. Very, very glitchy. Takes up a great deal of space in external memory. I really wanted to get into it, but I spent more time waiting for the things to load and my phone being completely locked up than I really got a chance to explore. Started off with two stars but it refuses to let me uninstall, it crashed my phone 3 times trying. It then decided it is a system app, and now my phone keeps randomly crashing.
Too much "pay to play". I like playing, but I'm clearly getting a subpar experience because I refuse to pay. In my first few hours of play I was "offered" packs to boost my experience that were supposed to discounted, or had more stuff than you'd normal get for the price, and just with entry level stuff it would have cost over $36 for all the pack, and that doesn't count the cost of the "battle pass".
Combat is responsive and fun. Graphics are great! Equipment is horrible!! Worst equipment setup in all the diablo games. Armor doesnt provide defense anymore. You cant buy equipment with normal game currency. You can only have up to three potions at a time. Highly disappointed with the pay to play aspect of the game. Its really annoying having a bunch of random players every where. If the server has a lot of people in your zone good luck trying to get to fight the better monsters.
First things first: the game is fun. The combat is well designed, the classes are good, and it all just feels like Diablo. Heck, even the touchscreen controls are great. BUT It is absolutely pay to win. The monetization model is aggressively predatory. Min-maxing has always been one of the primary activities in a Diablo game, and optimizing your build in this game will always cost you money. It's a shame that Blizzard's answer is "technically we didn't lie."
