Overall a good app. The only thing I will nag about is that I paid to remove ads and it seems every few days they come back. I have contacted the developer, and they gave me a fix (clear the app cache). I find it irritating that they know about the problem and have a "band aid" for it, but haven't fixed it. It seems lazy. If I pay, I shouldn't have to see any ads, ever, full stop. For free users who don't care to remove the ads, this app is a great way to browse reddit. *edit: changes happened.

Used to be the best app on my phone. Not much has changed except the addition of more ads. It used to only be a banner at the bottom. Which was reasonable and fair. But it's so much worse now. It's understandable that the developers might want some extra income, it's only bad here because the new ads are in line with how the app displays posts. So the fat fingered average users of Reddit, such as myself, that means accidentally clicking on a lot of ads for products I'll never be interested in...

Since the recent updates, the user experience has noticeably degraded. Widget no longer refreshes automatically. Long text posts make it very difficult to scroll to the comments. Gifs are much harder to pause (used to be able to tap anywhere on it, instead of needing to bring up the pause button). Adding the ability to watch videos with sounds doesn't seem worth all these other issues.

I have used this app for years. I was ok with the banner ads on the bottom - the devs need to get paid. I cringed at the full page pop ups that would take over the screen at random times, but powered through it because I hate reddit's native app. But now ads are literally playing in the background when I open a post, even when I minimize the app I can hear the ad audio playing. uninstalling.

Baconreader used to be a decent app for browsing Reddit but it has gone downhill. When I first installed it, it subscribed my Reddit account to its own subreddit without asking. Not cool, but easy enough to undo. My phone won't go to sleep while the app is open. My phone sleeps normally with any other app. But the really irritating thing is that full screen ads have started popping up randomly while reading, mid-sentence. Not cool. There are better options available.

This app is really great...except for the big problem that it is rarely capable of opening gfycat links. And since so much more content is being moved to gfycat, that means entire subreddits are practically unviewable. This is a consistent problem, happening multiple times per year and lasting for months at a time. I don't know what keeps changing to make this such a prominent recurrent issue, but this literally the only thing that keeps this app from being absolutely amazing.

Edit on my old review - I've been using this app for years and it's been great. However, this recent update is the worst! The screen timeout works on videos, but it also keeps my screen on when I have a thread open. I don't feel comfortable using it again until this bug is fixed. Sorry guys, I know mistakes happen but this one is literally killing my phone. Not worth it.

I really love the card view which can just let me swipe left through posts constantly, but the ads break it. Now it will show 2 ads next to each other when you scroll through ten posts and the next post won't load so you have to back out and scroll down to continue. I can understand and deal with the ads but this problem gets annoying, at least it isn't Twitter that refreshes everytime you enter the page. Other than that it's a good app I can't find another with continuous swiping like this one.

So, I actually love a lot about this app as far as layout, access to content, etc. there are adds because it is free (not unexpected) but the adverts I'm getting are for absolutely disgusting things off of wish for com, which I've never used and the items are things I've never looked at! They are a total NSFW tag that I can't report or get rid of. I'm not saying that they can't advert, but unless there is a way to clean up what I'm seeing, I'll have to move away from this.
