Reviews for TeamViewer Remote Control
This app is fantastic. Works great, a lot better than the last one I tried. Would highly recommend. I can control my desktop from my phone if I'm in class, and I can help my parents with their computer problems 1000 miles away from either my phone or computer. I do wish they could add a mode when controlling PC's from a phone that's more of just a trackpad instead of screen sharing, if you wanted to control your computer from just across the room, when you can already see your monitor.
I don't use this app very often, and I used to like this app a lot, but for the last few months file transfer has been so slow that I've been forced to use other file transfer options. Remote control -with audio- still works fine, even in slow network conditions, but I can't transfer a 300mb file in less than 30 minutes? What's going on there?
Used to be amazing. Now I can no longer say that... Where do I start? Copy and pasting no longer works. The taskbar down at the bottom is always covered by their new menu bar. So I have to zoom out every time which makes everything way too small to see. They need to lock their interface so that it doesn't get in the way of the remote view. the keyboard button no longer comes up when I first press it. I have to continually press over and over until it finally comes up. Irritated.
Free for personal use doesn't work anymore. As many others are reporting, I now get disconnected after a minute or less. My only use is helping family members with tech issues a few times a year. And there's not even an affordable paid subscription with the least expensive option being $50 per month! Anydesk seems to be the best alternative at the moment. Update: Thank you for the quick developer response. I updated to the latest version, used the reset link you provided and remotely connected to my Mom's PC, but TeamViewer is still disconnecting me in < 1 minute. I've used TV for many years and never had this issue before. Since you're saying free for personal use is still available, I'll try to get more help on the website.
So my original one-star review because of the erroneous yet infamous "Detected commercial use" error was posted in January 2019. There's literally no way to get any support for that error since they discontinued support for the free version. Just today (7/22/19) the developer finally responds (7 months later) basically telling me that I have to go on their forum and jump through several hoops to get beyond this error. I've moved on. Sorry, Chrome Remote Desktop is vastly superior in every way.
The app is fine. However, for the users like me that have a few computers (at home, mom, brother) it seems TeamViewer wants to make me pay a chunk of change to switch to a business account. Every time I log in, now I get a notice that it is suspected it is for commercial use (I use the remote connection at most 3-4 times a week, generally for very simple task that lasts no more than 1 minute). It says the connection will time out in 5 minutes but in fact does so in under 20 seconds. So long TV
