Reviews for QuickEdit Text Editor
QuickEdit is highly customizable using its settings. First, turn on text-wrap so words don't disappear off the side of the screen. Text size, font, and spacing are customizable. The triangular "back" button can be set to quickly undo any number of mistaken keypresses. Setting a dark theme creates white-on-black text which saves on battery use. The Find/Replace feature can even use Regular Expressions (which include wildcard characters and more).
The only tabbed text file editor to kill all oversimplified memo apps. QuickEdit respects your intelligence by letting you browse for files with desktop-like "open" and "save as" dialogues. The search is over, I've had this installed for years and I don't even think about it anymore. Almost perfect. The ads are large... And the inconsistent size of non-fullscreen ads is uniquely annoying.
Chromebook owner switching to Android apps from Chrome apps. I would've left Caret if I knew how good this was! 1. Chrome OS unifies app and page scaling which SUCKS because makes everything in apps tiny. Thankfully, there's an option to change the font of the editor. It's small but goes a long way. 2. Resizeable windows. You often have to restart an app when resizing it. Not the case here. Again, small, but very good. 3. Ctrl + S works. Can't wait to discover more keyboard shortcuts.
This app now plays 20 second video ads every time when saving (which is critical to save immediately after editing anything since the app's resume feature is junk and often does not work -- if you haven't saved your changes of file, goodbye whatever you wrote). The static ads before were tolerable, but this is not. Have to find a new text editor now.
I really like this app. It's easy to use, and beginner friendly. I mostly use it for writing text files to eaay cross-transfer to my computer, so I'm not using the app to its fullest extent. But on the off chance I've had to write an HTML file it's worked great as well. The reason why I've marked it as 4 stars is because my god are the ads annoying! I understand that they need to make money, but playing a pop up and every 5 minutes while someone is working just sucks. TL;DR: App good, ads bad.
I've been using QuickEdit for about a month now and it works great for me as an easy to use, no nonsense note-taking app while I am developing. Same as how I use WordPad when working on a Windows machine-- it fills the gap of Android not having a decent built-in text editor. The ads only come on transitions instead of in your face like so many apps. It just works. Would give 5 stars if had just a couple more features like an RTF mode with colored text and clickable web links that open browser.
The go-to app for my mobile text needs. I'm not really someone who writes entire documents on my phone, I more or less want to quickly open a notepad and jot something down. This app is perfect for that, it opens quickly and immediately throws your right into where you need to begin typing, and will sometimes even remember it if you accidentally closed the app without saving. I am a web developer so the ability to write code is an added plus. Easiest and best notepad app in my opinion.
I like this due to easy copying of text files from Android to my PC. Other apps often have proprietary formats or create emulated folders with random vanishing problems. This one clearly saves an ASCII text file that can be retrieved on a PC via USB without exporting or sharing, though that's also possible. I like to keep notes offline. The app's other features will appeal to different users. Ads that pop up on exit are a minor thing to cope with for the upside.
