Reviews for Wifi Analyzer
Found the problem why it wasn't scanning properly, and how to fix it. Part 1 has been mentioned here before, make sure you go into permissions and turn on storage and location. Part 2 is more tricky. Newer versions of Android now limit how much an app can scan wifi in the background, which is bad for an app like this. What you need to do is enable Developer Options and turn off "Wi-Fi Scan throttling" and the app will behave like it used to! Google how to enter Developer Options for your phone
This app has been very useful. I use it basically any time I add WiFi devices to my home network. I was having problems with it not showing any WiFi information, but when I went to the app permissions in Android settings and enabled location data access, it solved the problem. If anyone else is having that issue. I would suggest checking into the app permissions.
Used for years and it's still great. Despite all the complaining from other people about needing location info, that's a REQUIREMENT from Google for the newer phones (because if you have WiFi AP data, you know the users location). Nothing bad going on here! All WiFi apps that identify an access point on Oreo or newer need this permission. If you have an older phone and this bothers you, you can either revoke the permission or use the legacy version of the app that doesn't ask for location info. Only wish there was a paid version!
Sadly, it no longer works. 😢. IMPORTANT - SEE UPDATE BELOW I've used this app for years and loved it. As others have said, It no longer picks up any Wi-Fi signals (with Location on). I'm sorry to see it go. UPDATE If it shows no wifi, go into Android Settings/Apps, find Wifi Analyzer and check its Permissions. Location access may be turned off. Mine was. Turn it ON and it works perfectly.
This app still rocks! When I upgraded to Android 10 I was a bit concerned because the app was acting erratically. I just learned that since Android 8 WiFi scanning has been throttled to improve battery life. Bad news normally. Good news is Android 10 has a toggle in Dev settings under networking for turning of WiFi scanning throttling. Turn it off and give this app the correct permissions and the app actually works better than ever! Super fast. Thank you guys.
This is my favorite wifi analyzer. Simple and perfect. NOTE: It requires location to work, so if it's not working make sure you enable that permission. This is an Android OS privacy requirement because you can infer location from surrounding networks. I wish that wasn't the case, but it makes sense.
This has been my go-to wifi analyzer for many years, but looks like it hasn't been updated since 2018. So under Android 10, it doesn't work and shows a blank screen... unless you go into App Permissions to approve location and storage. It is obvious that the author has abandoned this app, since the banner ad on the bottom is not even working anymore, which may be a plus for the users. Otherwise the app is very functional. Kinda of like Picasa, once these apps were the best in their categories, but still very good and usable, even though they have been abandoned for years. Pretty sad, really... If the author sees this comment, I encourage you to make it open source and post it on github, so others can help to maintain it.
Has always worked excellent for me. However, my issue is just remembering how to change between scanning for 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz signals which isn't intuitive. If it was clearer with something like actual mini side tabs or something to select between them, or to not fade out, this app would be 5 stars for me. In fact, that may even be the reason for some of the comments from people claiming this app doesn't work because maybe they're scanning for the wrong frequency.
(Update: It seems to take 4 to 6 seconds between samples. Faster updates would help find weak WiFi areas around the house. Failing that, maybe add a "REFRESH" button?) When I installed Wifi Analyzer, no WiFi signals showed at all. I checked my phone and yes, my WiFi was still turned on. On the Internet, I saw mention of granting permission to access location. Here is where that was in my phone —》SETTINGS》APPS》WIFI ANALYZER》PERMISSIONS》Enable LOCATION
