Reviews for Wikipedia
On a mobile device, I find this app interface convenient and more pleasant to use than the mobile web site. I've had two frustrations. First, the app occasionally reports that Internet connectivity has been lost, even though it hasn't. Second, every time I restart my device, my login credentials for Wikipedia are deleted from my device, and this app recommends I login again. I've not been able to determine whether it's an OS issue or an app issue.
It used to be fine, but now in dark or black mode, a lot of text is white on a white background. This usually happens in album track lists or TV show episode lists. Wikipedia kind of uses a white table to display the information, but keeps the text white on top of this table. The only way to see the text is to select the text (as of you are going to copy it) or if the text itself is hyperlink.
It's an intuitive app built with usability in mind. You guys nailed the tabs feature, "table of contents" button, fast scroll showing the TOC indexes, and so much more. Dark theme is also very important for me. I do have one suggestion. I'd love to see Wiktionary implemented so I don't have to leave the app. It would be great if I could click on a Wiktionary link and it were treated as any other Wiki page (open in new tab, preview, etc.). Anyways, great work!
WILL CHANGE REVIEW AFTER ISSUES RESOLVED. Hi. I've loved the app for Years! But, it hasn't synced since January 2021. I downloaded the beta and installed this app on other devices but I still have hundreds of saved articles stuck in the main app on my android phone. I Googled around for fixes but found none. I couldn't find the feedback button in settings either. HELP!
The app was incredible at one point, but now it has some SERIOUS navigational issues that have rendered it basically broken. The back button no longer works properly, as it immediately takes you back to the featured article rather than the previous page. Getting to the actual home screen of the app is much more difficult than getting to the featured article. Articles will open over previous tabs, rather than opening a new tab. Portals are also essentially broken within the app. Please fix these!
I thought a Wikipedia app was redundant since the website already exists, but saving articles offline, transferring them between devices, and the clean reading experience with dark mode makes this app and a new account worth it to me. Haven't tried editing with this app yet though. My biggest issue so far is that "Explore" should be easier to get to, especially from an open tab. The tabs themselves took some getting used to after coming from iPhone. Small tweaks needed in that area.
at his used to be such a wonderful application, until it became less and less functional, until finally it will no longer function on any of my devices. It began when it would not load any images. An uninstall and reinstall fixed that. Then it would no longer load full sized images. Never could fix that. And finally, it will no longer load anything. . Uninstalling, reinstalling no longer fixes that. On our 4 devices in use, all we ever get is 'an error occurred'. Will there ever be a fix?
This app is absolutely amazing- I have fun with it, learn, and have learned so very much. It's incredible to be able to look up absolutely anything you can imagine; anything in the world and have a brief description available to either read or have read to you via "Text Reader"- which happens to be another app that I highly recommend. I hope that they make custom home pages so that I see articles that I like, and that pertain to my life & interests... hopefully with more positive themes. A+
