Reviews for Uber - Request a ride
The app needs to do a much better job at ensuring the GPS is selecting the fastest route for pickup and destination. For example, coming out of my neighborhood, instead of having the driver go straight to the main road, it has the driver turn down completely unnecessary streets to get there. And it turns a 15 minute ride into 30. Make it make sense.
Add feature to communicate with driver before paying. I had a question and I couldn't ask the driver until paying. Then when I payed I had to cancel in less than a min before the driver was even on their way and got charged a cancellation fee. The driver hadn't even left their original location and I had to pay $5?!?!? I don't think I'll be using uber again. A regular taxi service was the same price. Not very user friendly. And why are taxis able to take people in front seat and uber cannot?
Fixes that need to happen: 1, provide an option to avoid tolls (most tolls are easily avoidable). 2, provide a way for drivers to avoid unsafe areas, 3, do not penalize a driver for refusing to take a Trip Radar pop up, 4, stop repeating requests. If you have to repeat the fare, increase the fare. 5, ask your drivers if they prefer longer trips vs shorter trips. They won't always get what they want, but it reduces the amount of cancelled trips.
I have zero problems with any of the drivers, but the app itself needs help. I often rely on Uber to commute to and from work, which should be at most a 10 minute drive with few turns. But the app redirects the drivers to take long roundabout routes that double the ride time. So far I haven't been late, but there have been several close calls and I'm not sure if I could rely on Uber for much longer if this continues.
This doesn't involve the app in itself, which works fine, but I usually don't get a ride for 30 minutes or so..they sometimes don't have many available drivers. This can sometimes be a hassle, but it definitely beats the even more expensive alternative ride sharing app that doesn't have really any drivers in my area at all.
The app itself is ok. I can use it and all that. BUT the customer service interface is atrocious. There's no place for me to type in what my issue is if it isn't listed and if I do manage to get someone after searching through all the options to chat to a person I get handed off to another person. Is it within the app and the texting window? Of course not! They said they'll get back to me by email. For the record my issue was that I can rate my driver but I cannot tip them. I'm up to date too.
Does anyone ever TEST their apps? I've tried several times to save an address to "saved places". It never shows up in the "saved" area in the app, which keeps defaulting to an address I DIDN'T save. That one also doesn't appear in "saved places"—so, no idea how to remove it. Worst: The app keeps "forgetting" user data—have to start over with each launch. Enough of this nonsense—giving up on it. Want more business, Uber? Then fix your bugs.
This app and service is not reliable. Every time I open it, all I see is the map. No option on the screen or in the settings to book a ride and now you are charging customers booking fees. Whenever I do get the chance to book a ride, the trip doesn't end, not even after I rate my trip. It stays active on my screen for days. I refresh the screen, hit cancel, restart my phone, uninstall the app, browser, new phone. The trip is still there and I can't book a new ride. Awful app and service!
This is quite possibly the worst app I've seen on Android for a big company. Very glitchy. The screen doesn't even adjust when trying to message driver or chat support so you can't even see what you are typing. Sometimes you don't even get the option to message when you try and the GPS tracking is terrible compared to Doordash for instance. Very poor interface.
The drivers are good to great for the most part. The real issue is the fact that the app will apparently redesignate who will pick you up semmingly at random. I've been in a situation where my ride was less than 10 to even 5 minutes away and was suddenly swapped for a guy 40 MINUTES away. The GPS also frequently has issues forcing drivers onto nonexistent roads or through parking lots to get onto a back road.
