Reviews for Total War Battles: KINGDOM
Awesome Graphics and all around almost perfect. However the matchmaking (as others pointed out) is, lets say, weird; the tribute for raiders/invaders is quite expensive given that troops are not always up to the task, plus the frequency in which enemies show up is quite annoying. Resource collection is too slow at times.
The game is geared far too heavily towards pay-to-win. There needs to be better reward for levelling up, such as access to better units, that you can work toward. At this stage I am at level 26 and have no reason to continue. Unless I buy gold I can't win duels or any missions worth fighting. Obviously writing this will change nothing as far too many people are willing to throw many into apps. Very sad.
Average. Armies could be bigger and remove the fact that there is a cool down timer on moving troops and giving orders to archers. The map is to small and the battle quest campaign to short. Also far to restrictive on the amounts of units that can be used. All of the best units only allow you to recruit 1 which is stupid when you fight armies that have multiple elite units and reinforcements. Also needs an offline mode.
Great game, top quality, probably one of the best quality strategy games your gonna see on mobile, not only is it unique from the other strategy games, it feels and looks realistic and its much more complex to control you lands and castles, you can do so many stuff, and the battles are good. The game is not pay to win at all! You should definitely give it a try, its an amazing game, however it might be complicated and confusing at the beginning, but its nothing that requires a mastermind.
[Edit] A small bug, farms spontaneously destroy roads replacing them with fields. A bit annoying. Draining stone to rebuild. So far the game's still catching my attention. Not too much repetitive tasks, not too automated, the challenge posed by climate and tile placement to build cities not to mention the battle system makes it a very good game. Good point to mention there's no add and it doesn't seem that paying is a sine qua non condition to progress in the game.
The game itself is great. I've been looking for a city building game where you can chose where things go and change the terrain for awhile and this is what I wanted. However the resources are an issue as it can take days to get enough to upgrade anything unless you spend gold and you don't have any way of earning gold. Personally I think it would be better if you could set an auto harvest/fell/mine for the resources as you have to manually do it each time and you only get 10 of each resource when you do it.
You have a good game and a solid foundation. My problem is you're servers and their habit of disconnecting every 2 mins. Some days it's better then others. This would not be a problem but if you get disconnected in a battle, even if you didnt lose any troops. It'll wound the whole army then you have to wait ages to try again. This curbs progression majorly. I will rate it higher once you fix the problem but for now this 1 star is to get you're attention on this gamebreaking issue.
I didn't get far in this game, I found it incredibly frustrating how the tutorial treated me like I was too incompetent to figure out what to do. Also the tutorial dragged on far too long. Why am I even attempting to play this game when I'm 30 minutes in and it's being played for me. I've always been a Total War fan on PC, but honestly this game seems like just another Kingdom building game. It was a huge let down with the actual battle screen scenarios. No zoom option, can only swap troops? Ugh
This game has a great OST and the Graphics are nice. Other than that it is pretty terrible. The pay2win mechanics are so ingrained, that after level 26 fights labeled "normal" are pretty tough to win with a non-gold-paid army. Unit upgrade costs 250 xp each (takes long and is undermined by small upgrades) AND that the unit building is upgraded (which costs three castles that connect, one upgraded castle AND the resources for the building upgrade). Unless you pay for gold on the regular you lose!
Very pay to win once you reach a certain point. Enemies are stupidly overpowered in comparison to your level. Masters have ridiculously unreasonable quests to be unlocked. They should be available as soon as you reach that rank. The cost to upgrade buildings is ridiculous considering the amount you get from each one. Overall it was fun for the first week but then it became a complete pay to win game.
