Reviews for TextNow: Call + Text Unlimited
Would recommend just be mindful its a free app so the ads can kinda be a lot. In all fairness most of the time this app works well and is actually free. Ive used it on and off often over the years and only recently ran into issues. Other than recently its been the best text ap i have found. I also believe im having issues because my phone is just that old. Room for improvement on communicating with consumers/customers.
Out of data notification is too agressive, nagging you every time you interact with the app. Add free+ is broken, I am shown adds on 2G plan. Great audio and video quality. Needs integration with Google assistant and Android auto. Documentation needs an urgent update. Support is very good. Adds with sound are ruining the experience. App needs more buttons to give user more freedom to make account, device, and SIM changes without having to call support. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
This was a very useful app. It made me so I can communicate with my friends. But, there were a few things that I wish could have been on there and better. First, on our messages, we can't put there name on there so we know who it is and who we're talking too. Second, the ads were horrible. After every conversation, the same ad would pop up. Third, I tried to get the notification ringtone to change, but it wouldn't. It could have been better quality.
I've been using this app for some time as a stop cap for when I can't pay my phone bill. This allows me to call out and make texts when I can't do it from my own phone. It's been very helpful and that regard but the interface is not as obvious as they think it is. When your Wi-Fi or mobile data is a bit flaky they warn you by playing playing a sound that is both distracting and painful to my ears. It gets in the way of making a call. They need to do this in a better way.
About the absolute only thing this app is good for is a single text here and there. but the unreliability for anything else like contacting support, making calls, or being spammed with constant ads makes you really not want to use the app. Or dealing with the app not allowing the phone calls to go through and continues to ask for mic permission even after already having it. Then top all that off with the fact that you literally have to be connected to wifi for it to actually work...
The latest update makes the app useless If you have to press a menu prompt to select an option because the beeping sound doesn't stop after you have pressed the number / option you want and it's so loud and annoying that hanging up is the only way to make it stop and you have to do it every single call making the app useless until this bug is fixed.
SO many calls/texts are missed due to lack of notifications. I am missing and being emailed by my callers to check TextNow for their messages. Messages 1 notification per day. Calls 1 notification per day. We deal with a lot of ads, which is fine for free service. But there's no way to increase the notification (at least under the free version). Calls are glitchy and disconnect often. There is no update option so I've got the latest to date. Back to Google Voice.
I've used this app for some time now. It is the worst! They billed me for something I immediately cancelled and the app keeps dropping calls. I have been trying to get ahold of the same customer service for 5 days. Trying and trying only to have my call repeatedly dropped afrer holding multiple times for 30 mins at a time. Google voice seems to work so Much better. I can't get my phone activated because the calls are dropping and makes the entire process more frustrating!
I can't even sign in now.... WTH?! This is garbage. I've uninstalled the app and reinstalled it as well... No luck. Can't sign in to ANY of my accounts. When I tried to contact support, I couldn't even find out how to do that. Just kept getting help tutorial pages which is NOT what I need. I'm so irritated.... What was the point of me even buying a sim card???? I'll change my review if, and once, this issue is fixed. Until then, don't waste your time since you won't be able to sign in anyways.
Calls are often dropped at inopportune times, echoes can be heard while on calls, the app does notify you of certain incoming calls. Overall it's been extremely problematic. I tried to reach out to customer support. They simply directed me to their website where I interacted with a bot that then directed me to articles that did not solve the problems I have been experiencing.
