When unpacking the archive with the file, you will be prompted to enter a password
- Download the XAPK installation application, e.g, APKPure or File Manager .
- Open the downloaded XAPK installation application and locate the downloaded XAPK file.
- Follow the instructions in the application to install the XAPK file.
- Allow installation from unknown sources: Go to 'Settings' > 'Security' (or 'Biosecurity & Safety') > enable 'Unknown sources' or 'Install from unknown sources' for your browser or file manager. On newer smartphone models, permission is requested when the individual file is installed and no unnecessary steps need to be performed..
- Install the APK file by following the on-screen instructions.
- Restore security settings by disabling permission to install from unknown sources.

A nice application to meet with new people in different countries. I'm am still trying to get used to the copy and paste feature. Sometimes when I press ctrl + v to paste something in the text window, it sometimes just types a "v" so I have to click and hold until the context menu displays in order to paste. Also it would be nice to be able to save the conversation thread as a txt or rtf file to review offline.
Honestly this is my go-to app for practicing language. The interface is clean and reliable. There are some glitches in the chat feature from time to time but it's been getting better. I've had some really good conversations and overall experiences with natives through Tandem. While it may take a while to find a consistent language partner, they do exist!
This app offers a unique way of learning. I really enjoy this app. I've met new people who have become close friends &we are miles away from one another. it feels good to help someone really accomplish a big goal of learning a language in return I'm learning a language as well. the audio and video chat makes the process easier and more personal, its like having a private tutor. the app is very easy to use many languages are available. the app makes the cost of learning a new language affordable
Great app, community is as wide as the number of languages you list, but it's fine. Most people are open to conversation and friendly. This is not Tinder, guys, please. Simple enough, anyone could use it. I find some of the paid features unnecessary. You only see people from other countries unless you pay too. App had a crash problem, severely annoying. Almost deleted it. But I updated and it was all good. I hope it never happens again. Overall an excelent app, lots of idioms and people.
So far I've had a wonderful time using Tandem, and the best thing is is that it's free. It begins by putting you on a short waiting list but I was let in after an hour or so (maybe not even that) and instantly I was talking to new people. It could use a feature in which you chooss to receive messages or not from people it became so many! Do recommend for any level of language learning. So useful.
It has been fantastic, if not overwhelming. But it would be nice to also have a desktop app b/c I am not a fan of a smaller screen with limited functionality compared to a PC. It could also benefit from some better controls on how many people can message you at once... To reduce the overwhelming response to chat requests and manage expectations.
UPDATE: Bugs fixed with July 22nd update. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The app was great but there are some major glitches, bugs, and errors. I just updated it and now audio does not play. I have uninstalled and reinstalled it, I have closed it and opened it many times. I can not use the app anymore. This is just a Samsung S8 smartphone. Also, with the new update, you can't even view photos anymore unless you're a paid subscriber. They are just pushing users away.
I love this application so far and see it helping me tremendously in my language learning in the future however I have one complaint: Every time I try to listen to a voice note my screen turns off. I think this may have something to do with it probably being a part of making calls, because in a call the screen turns off while I'm talking, but that doesn't dosconnect the call. This may be a problem only I and people with the same phone as me have, but pleaae see what ypu can do.
I just downloaded this app to try it out and am already very excited. I would agree with previous reviews that there should be an option to favorite conversations so that you don't lose track of the ones you're in the middle of when new messages come in. I got about 70 messages within 20 minutes of downloading, which was a bit overwhelming. But once I sifted through some I started to find the people I wanted to continue talking to.
The app is great in theory, but is unusable in practice. Notifications won't get delivered, so I never know if someone has sent me a message. Messages appear read even though I didn't read them, and behavior is generally erratic. Unusable until these bugs are fixed, and it's a pity. I bought a one year subscription but canceled it when I realized the app doesn't work properly.
