Reviews for Moon+ Reader
Admittedly, if I could, I'd give this four and a half ⭐. That's only because of the fact of the ads. Despite that this is the fabulous ebook reader. It handles so many different types of books, and so many ways to customize it. Different color backgrounds, different image backgrounds, and different color themes. Plus the ability to customize the toolbar is very very handy. Get it to try it out, and I think you'll love it. Then upgrade to Pro to if you hate ads.
Best reader I've used. Preferred page layout is stable across most EPUB books. No other reader I've used comes as close as this one's stability. Suggestion: in filtered shelf listing, show books not meeting the criteria at the end of the listing instead of not showing at all. Otherwise, books have a tendency to get "lost" because you seldom see them listed.
I am satisfied with everything, except one: Could you please add an opition in the settings that allows us to hide the vertical scrollbar on the right? I spent half an hour trying to find the corresponding settings. when reading novels, the scrollbar would indicate the progress of the story, sometimes the would hurt the reading experience.
Very good once the Blue Light issue is handled. If the app is appearing yellow/beige no matter what you do, the One UI/Android is automatically applying a Blue Light filter to the reader even though you have it turned off. Go to "Blue Light Filter" and select "Turn on now". Set the Opacity slider all the way to the left. That got rid of the yellowing or beige look for the app.
I tried all read apps, which are available, and this is by far the best. One thing, what I am missing, is to see the page and the amount of pages in the whole book, and not only the chapter. I am reading on four different devices, and it would also be nice, if the app could load the latest read book automatically on the other devices.
Great reader app, have been using for years and bought the pro. Please fix the scrolling by pixel mode though, the speed of 60% is at least 20x faster than 50% and its impossible to find a speed between that fits my reading speed between those. Used to be a lot better spread of speeds and that is by far the best and smoothest autoscroll mode. Thanks!
Overall functionality is very good, but there's an issue where the display brightness locks and cannot be changed. If this issue gets fixed, I could easily give it 5 stars, but otherwise 3 is generous. EDIT: Thank you to the dev for the response. I'm glad there is a way to adjust brightness, but it should definitely be more clearly communicated. Perhaps a "how to use app" page from the options menu, or brightness controls within options menu.
I've tried this a few times over the years and the bad, clunky UI has always turned me off. You get dropped into a particularly confusing UI flow right off the bat when first launching the app. Developers would do well to give the first-time user experience a little more thought and bring the UI in line with Android standards, such as they are.
It doesn't display covers correctly, and shows the 2nd or 3rd page of like half the books or comics. Also, a lot of the time only 1 or 2 books/comics from a series will be shown despite all of them being in the same folder and working in other apps. Plus, instead of giving each book or comic series their own section on the book shelf, it just throws every volume of every series together. Lastly, it doesn't sort by title correctly, despite my filenames and metadata being correct.
