Reviews for Magic: The Gathering Arena
Best way to learn the game at your pace and to do it entirely for free.
Code don't work
Some bugs against AI. It'll make bad decisions like, target it's own cards with damage or lock down abilities kind of bad. UI in the main menu is very unclear about what's what. And deck building feels very slow, at least on the mobile version. A good game, just desperately needs quality of life improvements
good fun, needs deck limits and more rewards for playing, extremely grindy and rewards are ok but need way more like i said.
Unable to enter log in information, login screen is formatted poorly and cannot be rotated to access keyboard. Uninstalling.
Dreaded "connecting to server" messages in the middle of game play happen much too often.
uodates every time i boot up. frustrated because of thus.
Flavor of the month. I see the same decks from different users over and over and over again. Absolutely no creativity and the game doesn't reward creativity in any way also.
Best game I own. Play every day.
would be nice if they added commander format
I like it. Itt has been a good substitute for live playing. I rarely get to go play any more. But this has been fun. The only problem I have is sometimes I have to go a small stretch without playing and I am not able to get full value from mastery pass. Needs more xp possibilities, especially as the season winds down.
The game is quite addicting. You have to spend time to learn the mechanics of the game while strategizing a win comes from trial-and-error. The part that makes it fun for me is the fact I've spent the time to learn mechanics well enough to play my own cards, in my own way, well enough to defeat others who simply use a meta. In my opinion magic the gathering arena's greatest thrill is not giving up and seeing yourself go from a zero to a hero.
Great game. Only one issue with the game, but if they get resolved I'll give it 5 stars. Building a deck is miserable unless you plan on spending money pn the game. It just takes forever especially for some game formats. Mainly brawl where you need 100 cards and only 1 of each card. It would be an easy fix if they included a way to break cards down into wild cards but who knows if that'll happen.
This app is so hard and unintuitive to use. Trying to pvp with the starter decks is abysmal. There seems to be no effort to finding players with balanced decks/experience/etc so I can't even compete without getting better cards. I have advanced technical degrees but I can't figure out how to even begin to build or edit a deck. The UI makes no sense, can't find specific cards I know I've collected, etc. What I thought would be an accessible entry to MTG is just a disappointing cash grab.
On one hand, this is my favorite way to play MTG, hands down. Having the computer keep track of everything really cuts down on the mental strain of the game, and being able to play any time means I'm playing more Magic than ever before! On the other hand, the client is god awful. It's laggy, it crashes, it lacks very basic QOL features. The in-app economy also needs serious work. It's downright predatory at it's worst and an insult to users' intelligence at best.
