Reviews for LinkedIn: Jobs & Business News
It works well most of the time. It does not offer me the same level of navigation and connecting maneuverability, on a phone, that using a computer with a screen offers. It continues to show me only random people to connect with, rather than real, average Americans who offer services close to, or the same as, mine. It would NOT allow me to list Calligrapher as my occupation. Not helpful.
*Updated: I have tried this, but tried again. This has not solved the problem.* Every time I do a fresh launch of the app, I land on "Failed to load. Try again.." When I tap retry, everything loads as expected. This happens 100% of the time I open the app, including when I have a strong WiFi connection and I experience no adverse effects on other apps.
Definitely better than the website in every way. It looks nicer, performs better, and is far more organized. Notifications, however, are terrible. Messages cannot be expanded (like in every other messaging app). Worse, job search notifications never appear. What's the point of choosing between email and notifications if only one works? A daily digest would be much better than 15 individual emails or notifications.
Man this app sucks. Some days it doesn't show you notifications on messages, and other days it won't upload your videos, no matter if you restart your phone or not. Even after I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, the same issues arise. Why this app has to have access to my camera AND microphone, to upload a video, is also BEYOND intrusive. Pathetic.
Hi, posting photos and/or videos via the app causes it to crash. It's not always convenient to be on a laptop. This crash has been going on for a long time and it keeps being ignored in updates. Please fix this. - Thanks to everyone putting in work. ∆∆∆ Response to Dev ∆∆∆: I've done that before, it's the same issue still. The phone is the S7 Edge, I've updated, I've used mobile data and WiFi, it just crashes almost immediately. Especially when it comes to trying to post a video.
This app seems to be more or less a wrapper for the mobile LinkedIn website, and it does that poorly. The layout overlaps the screen edges without the ability to resize, meaning lots of horizontal scrolling back and forth to read stuff, as well as the inability to access all icons in the top tool bar of the site without rotating the phone to landscape view. It's clean looking and simple, but these layout issues drastically reduce usability. Unusable for me, even on a large screen phone (Note 8).
I have turned notifications off three times and the app manages to turn them back on. I've never seen an app do this. I don't know how they've found a workaround to get their notifications turned back on after being turned off, but the fact that they have done it shows complete disrespect for the users wishes. I hope Linkedin as a company finds the workgroup responsible for this trespass and does something about it.
1) Setting up new phone & am SHOCKED by the breadth & intrusiveness of 'Default' permissions. Is the most pervasively connected, scraping app I've ever seen. Contacts, Location, Calendar, Emails, Call/Search/Msg/Location/File/Browser/App Usage History (I could go on). Same goes for PC version. Shame on Microsoft. LI is a privacy minefield. 2) 1st time opened in 2-3 years. What useless, intrusive, obfuscation clutter. Whatever MS is optimizing for (mining?) has ruined a once-great tool.
If I could give this app zero stars, I would. They don't provide the same functionality to the app. If you want to cancel premium, as an example, you would get caught in a vicious loop that isn't as easy to navigate through mobile. I consistently ran into roadblocks saying you have to be on desktop to access certain areas of the site and it's not taken me a week to cancel premium. They should not have an app if it cannot support all its features.
This app is a disappointment on many levels 1) It forces you to choose a place and then makes suggestions only for that area. The whole reason for having this type of account is to make global connections and see what possibilities exist in other parts of the world. 2) It allows sending connection requests to your contacts within indicating whether or not they are on LinkedIn until after you send. I'm happy to connect with friends already on the app but I don't want to be sending spammy requests
