Reviews for Google One
At first, I didn't like. For the phones, yes, the way we use them, this storage can be useful if you understand how to. How about the PC? Oh yes folks, if you have at least 300mb/s to work with, this serves as a great additional SSD virtually. If you're using a VM, omg, you will then realize how great this is because it will add drive letter and function as a working drive in your machine. I now use it to store media and access it without going to a website or having to run apps.
Pointless App! This app has no purpose whatsoever. It basically tells you that Drive backs up, Photos backs up, Syncing you Android backups will backup your contacts, ect.. The only thing this app backed up was MMS messages, but no SMS messages. The UI us bogged down by trying to sell you stuff, that it forgets it's own purpose. Should be a central backup app that ties everything together, but it's not. It's essentially an MMS backup. That's all. Skip it.
You want to know what is happening app keeps asking for me to upgrade my data and I just paid for the 2nd year in a row, it says delete old screenshots, apps, pictures & it goes through Google files which I hate shows you what to delete in bulk & doesn't let me see each thing so I can approve it! That's not going to happen! Like the AAA app haven't used it, it's for Roadside assistance flat tire, car accident but I need to keep it for an emergency! + Duplicates stop backups & let me see pics
Horrible. I installed it, and started syncing my photos. Of course I quickly ran out of storage with my photos & videos. I tried deleting some photos from the cloud and it keeps deleting my original photos from my device! You can't remove or add permissions because it says "no permissions allowed and no permissions denied" wth. Now I'm trying to delete the cloud photos to free up space but can't without my originals being deleted. Everything worked fine on my phone before I installed this app!
Lost my call history and SMS messages after system reset, even though I have a Google One subscription, had backups enabled, had plenty of free space, and even forced a Google One backup shortly before the reset. After the reset, there was no history of any backups from my phone. Reached out to an "expert" who walked me through the various drive/backup settings screens noting I had no backups, and suggesting I contact my phone manufacturer's support. Seriously Google, you can't tell me what happened to a backup I made a mere hour ago?
I bought a phone so I can have a better camera, but when I open it up, it is full of premium options that I have to pay to use. Worse yet, I can't install a camera app to replace it that will edit those pictures because when you open up the pictures, it defaults back to the original camera. I bought a phone with your software installed on it, don't tie up my camera with bloated options that I have to pay a monthly fee to use. If you want to upsell me, give me an option for an outright purchase.
Will not auto backup sms and mms. If I do a manual backup it works. MMS and SMS is over 200mb. However once it does the automatic backup at night when charging the sms and MMS backup drop to only 1mb in size. Update: I've done everything you can. Enabled disabled. Re-enabled. Uninstalled reinstalled. Deleted cache. Deleted data. Installed again. Even tried a different account and it does the same thing still every time. Update 2: I’ve tried support but as I’m not a paying member and on the free 5gb plan I don’t get support.
Good for catastrophic or FULL recoveries only. If you (like me) want to factory reset to level-set on performance then be warned you CANNOT select which parts of the backup you can restore. For instance, if you want to recover just SMS and call history, but start over with apps and settings, then that is IMPOSSIBLE. Very disappointing. EDIT: well selectivity appears to be moot since neither of my backups succeed (vague "try again" toast message). Overall very janky and not intuitive.
I'm very annoyed that I can't select the data to back up. I only want to back up my messages but you insist upon backing up data on every single app even the bloatware. Samsung Cloud backup my messages without requiring the extra 4 apps to do it. Google drive use to do this by it's self & your search can't find the website you suggested. Google is making itself less relevant with every added and retired app
HORRIBLE !!!!!! I have had Google Drive 100GB storage and Google Photos 50GB storage for years. I clean up once a month to delete anything I don't need. Now since "Google One" it adds all my stuff together and now I can't even receive emails because they include EVERYTHING and even though I PAID for my Drive storage, that 100GB is obsolete now. I have to delete photos and documents just to get an email (and my phone has PLENTY of space!). I hate Apple but looks like I'll be switching back!
