Reviews for Brother iPrint&Scan
Going by the other reviews my experience could have been worse. The app works, but one definite complaint I have is that somehow this app causes my MFC-J480dw, an already slow printer, to print WAY slower than the default Android print utility. It takes more than a minute to print a single page, even at "normal" quality levels. But at least the app functions for me.
Works, but it's slow. I have two brother multifunction units that faxes, prints, scans and copies. Both have wireless interfaces and there are two different houses. I hate printing wirelessly off my phone because it takes literally 5 minutes to transfer the file to the printer. I don't think it's anything to do with the wireless network because I can print wireless through my computer fast. App needs to be improved.
Attempting to run the app on a different subnet. Added the printer's IP manually. I can see the toner levels, etc, but it will not print or scan. I understand needing to be on the same subnet to automatically detect the printer, but manually adding an IP should work as long as the phone can access that IP address and the necessary ports. I've verified this to be the case, but the app still will not print or scan.
Nice app but takes to long to print documents. I had a 10 page document and it took 30 minutes. I have Xfinity high speed and only 3 devices connected and still so slow. I tried to print a 65 page document forget it. Says file to large however my hp app worked great and took only minutes on my inkjet. I prefer to use my laser for important documents. Like the other comments, I also seem to only use this for a scanner. Please fix this. Its very slow even to print one page.
The app works great; you can print and scan using your mobile device, which is useful and is actually speedy. HOWEVER, scan settings apparently differ from the app and the Brother windows program. Yes, I read this can happen so for instance on windows, you can choose to scan with error diffusion and scanned pages come out clear. BUT, when you scan with the app, there is no error diffusion option so scanned pages come out with dark spots throughout the page and the letters are blurry. Again, why even have a scanned feature if it's not going to work properly?
Works but is laborious. It requires internet and doesn't connect directly with the phone or the printer. When I had an epson I didn't need internet. I could just access (with speed) my files and print quickly. This app should at least be able to access the phone files with out having to upload them to an outside source so you can print them in your own home. Ugh.
I used this app every single day to print labels out. How many times did I have issues with it? Every single time. There is always some random chance the app won't recognize the pdf at all. I have to make several attempts every time I print and each time it takes the app a few minutes to decide whether it wants to work. I have tried updating the app and installing on other devices and always the same result. You're much better off using whatever other print software your device is capable of
Why is is so difficult to print from an android phone? Nearly impossible to connect to the printer and even when you can the print progress bar sits at 10% and never prints. I've only ever had success printing immediately after a software update that is required through a separate website. If my phone and printer are on the same Wi-fi network there should be literally no issue. Maybe I'm just ignorant to some simple solution but it should be as easy being on the same network and hitting print.
Scannned 20 pages. Began cropping. Tapped where it said "tap here for full screen." A message popped up saying this app may not work in full screen and I lost all 20 pages. Mfc-J6935dw is the least user-friendly printer I've ever had. The brother utility scan on my PC does not allow cropping or editing at all. This is why I was trying to use their Android app 4 scanning which at least allows cropping and rotating.
I don't understand why any app developer who is employed by a company who manufactures printers would leave out the option to manually modify the print scale % on a printing app. Majority of other print settings you'd want to modify aren't available either. When you can only access like 25% or less of the printers options via mobile app, it makes the printer 100% useless. Absolutely frustrating and infuriating
