Reviews for Vivaldi Browser - Fast & Safe
At first I was reluctant to try this browser. I didn't know enough of it and I was also stubborn and a bit of a fanatic about another browser in particular. But after some research, I decided to give this one a try, and I'm happy I did. Syncing bookmarks is a must for me, as is ad-blocking. Some folks dislike the amount of settings in phone and desktop browsers, but to me this just means more customization options that I can tailor to my personal preferences. Keep up the great work!
UPDATE : After deleting the app on all devices I reinstalled one at a time and I was able to create a account and then sync the other devices. Thank you to Customer Service for their quick response and I hope that my solution may help others. ~~Can not create a account. I just get a error page. Tried on my phone, tablet and chromebook
Summary: The best overall browser for Android, Windows, and Linux desktops too. I started using Vivaldi right after they split from Opera. It was good when they first started on their own, but since then, they have truly become the best. More features than all rivals, even desktop browsers, and a sync system that is there to help you, not help sell you ads. Try it, but be prepared to switch to it full time. You'll be hooked fast, but switching is simple and quick. Browser wars have a winner
For my model phone, this browser works as fast and as reliable as Google Chrome. The Vivaldi user interface sets this browser far above Chrome. The speed dial is fantastic, even though it requires a copy and paste to add an entry. Maybe a future update will make it easier to add a website directly to the speed dial. There are many excellent features yet to explore and I hope this will become my permanent go to browser. Highly recommended to try on your phone and specific operating system.
I am a consistent Vivaldi user on my laptop, and I think it's an absolutely fantastic desktop browser. I use it almost exclusively. Hearing the mobile app finally come out had me really excited. After using it for a bit, I would say it's off to a strong start, but has some ways to go. It's a very obvious beta and there are some key features missing which really hold it back. The ability to customize so much is a major part of what makes the desktop version so amazing, things like the layout of the speed dial page along with the tabs page (like changing the formation of them and the size). Being able to reorder the tab pages as well. The lack of extensions also really hurts. I'll still be supporting the app since I really want to see it improve. I'm a continued loyal user of Vivaldi desktop and I always recommend it to my friends. I hope I can do the same with app!
I like this app but there are two things that keep me from deleting firefox for good. It's shocking enough that there is no support for disabling video autoplay, but the fact that you can't use extensions is mind boggling. The other issue is that I want to add brave as the default search and it doesn't appear that new search engines can be added.
I use Vivaldi on desktop and absolutely love it, couldn't wait to use the mobile app. So far, it is delivering and feels like a great, stable experience and am excited to see where this goes. The one suggestion I could make is that when opening up the "tabs" menu, it would be nice to be able to swipe tabs away as other mobile browsers allow. Clicking "x" in the corner becomes a tiresome experience when you keep accidentally opening the tabs you're trying to close. Otherwise, highly recommended!
The bottom toolbar is excellent although I think Opera has better UI icons. The ad blocking is nice although some pop-ups still plague some sites. Speed Dial could use a visual overhaul to be more like Opera and an "add to speed dial" option for web pages. The privacy features are quite good. Best mobile bookmarking hands down. It's an excellent browser but it's main issue is speed and bugs. Speed this browser up and I'll give it another star. Simplify the drop down menu from the top.
Scrollable or Continuous Tab Stacks triggers a bug when enabled. Whenever you completely close out of Vivaldi the app will never open again, just keeps crashing. Clearing cache does nothing, nor restarting my phone. Clearing Vivaldi app data is the only solution. I have some flags enabled, but w/o fail as soon as those scrollable tab-related ones are enabled, the app crashes. I've isolated it through testing, having had to reset (newest version) Vivaldi about 7x in last few days.
I've rated this app 1 star just because of the annoying popups that block my screen every time I download a file. It's freaking annoying that I can't turn that garbage off without running off notifications for this app all together. I can't stand popups getting in my way. I can't see the screen when it happens and I don't want it. EDIT: I decided to turn off notifications just to get rid of the popups, only to find that didn't work either. It may be time to look for a new browser.
