Latest update in July 2022 made android auto stop working. My phone will say Android auto is running but my car doesn't pick it up. Says I need a new cable, ok. Bought 3 cables. None work. Android Auto takes over my phone then I can't use the Bluetooth connection to just use maps and music, bc Android Auto is running. Worked fine last week. Supremely frustrating.

It's a good ap. I do have a consistent problem with my phone not connecting initially and having to unplug and reconnect. I also experience disconnects where the music will stop for a couple of seconds, like the connection dropped then picks back up. Happens two or three times every day, and with 3 different phones amd multiple different cables. Hasn't happened one time with my wife's iPhone. It's not the end of the world, but its pretty irritating.

I've been using this in my rental vehicle with a large touchscreen. Overall it's nice but it's super annoying to not be able to use maps on the phone once the car is on. Using the car screen is not convenient to search for places, read reviews about restaurants, or do the many other things people use the maps app for. Also, don't restrict typing while in motion if it's the passenger doing so. We ran into an issue where we had no cell service (so no voice translation) but weren't allowed to type.

The app is great once you connected to it with your phone. It's really easy to connect with the USB cable (only learned about it with a rental car when when I tried to charge my phone). The setup to connect with Bluetooth is cumbersome - not very smooth, especially while driving. The integration with Google Voice was great though - easy to make requests via voice.

I'm very new to Android Auto and my first experience is fine. 97% of the time, it does what it's supposed to. Sometimes, I'll have to unplug and reconnect my phone from the USB. That doesn't work often enough. Most times, with connectivity issues, I have to restart the Subaru radio or turn it off completely. Overall, I think it's very useful by making texts and navigation seamless.

Been using it for over two years now. The convenience factor for commuting is irreplaceable, but the app does feel clunky and unintuitive at times. I have also run into some issues where I'd need to wipe the cache and data for the app on my phone and start fresh just to get certain features to work again. It is a flawed app, but probably the best you can get on Android.

Overall I like Android Auto. However, it does drop periodically while connected to a wired device. I have not yet had the opportunity to test the app on a wireless version of the app. If it weren't for the connectivity issues I would rate this higher. I love being able to tell the phone to navigate somewhere. Also the voice recognition for calls and navigation works better than the system built into my car.

I didn't want to use this. I figured, it would be easier to just connect my phone to the car's Bluetooth and stream whatever audiobook or music I was listening to, let Google maps run under that and, we're golden. But seriously. This is so much better. There's no clunky Bluetooth delay, maps actually displays on my car's infotainment screen, I can easily switch what I'm controlling with the touch screen controls on that screen, so I can still actually see the road, and my phone gets charged. Win

Worthwhile app, definitely makes it safer and easier to use my car's touchscreen display. Drawbacks that I would love to see fixed, though I'm sure some are not the app's fault: It has pretty limited function in areas without a cell signal. I live rurally and that's sometimes a problem. Sometimes it cuts out for seemingly no reason. (Almost certainly an issue with the stereo, not the app) I wish I could leave my phone connected and switch over to my husband's via Bluetooth)

App works ok for me. I always hard wire to the car. I like that it is starting to add stop signs. Would be nice if it had traffic lights. Probably the biggest improvement for me would be the volume of the spoken directions. I wish it would default to the volume I used last. Would be nice if you could change the volume of guidance independently from the radio. You have to wait for the spoken directions, and then adjust the volume. Many times you adjust the radio volume instead of directions.
