Reviews for Woodturning
Never seen anything like it. Spin wood and metal and carve it with chisels. Paint it, sell it, rinse and repeat. Update: I'm seeing some feedback about ads. Just pay the four bucks, which is less than the cost of one visit to an arcade, to go ad free. You'll never have to watch another ad except to triple your sales price, and that's optional.
I opted in for the ad free version option. I've played a game similar to this one but this game allows you to smooth out the piece along with painting and using stencils. I play this game a lot before bed to unwind. The physics programmed into it is so satisfying. A simple style of game that can actually be enjoyable if you're willing to remove ads.
The concept of the game is nice and when it works I enjoy playing it. However, you take your time to carve out these shapes and then you sometimes lose all of your work. Each step of the process you have to click the next button and when you do you get an ad. Sometimes when that ad is done the screen goes black, the game freezes which causes you to restart it and lose all of your progress.
This is a fun, relaxing game. WHEN you get to play it, that is. I understand the need for ads but, 3-4 ads to complete EACH level is a bit excessive. And then there's sometimes an ad between levels as well. Not to mention the ads to unlock stencils, etc. You end up doing more ad watching than actual game play.
The game is, in fact, woodturning. The problem is that you can hardly consider it a game: there is no penalty whatsoever to not carving the wood. There is no point to money. You don't really benefit from buying chisels and sponges as the starter kit can do everything. LevelUps are entirely pointless. You're also not rewarded for carving perfectly, and it's actually a waste of time going for detail because the wood transforms into the shape if you're within around a 5% margin of error. Ad-bait.
The game is great. There is a massive deal breaker however. The ads. I rarely have an issue with ads because in other games because the ads have some time between them. Here, however, everytime you do a single step in the game you get an ad. Each step takes about 5-30 seconds depending on what step you are on. Each time you complete a step, theres an ad. Tone down the ads so that at the very least you finish a single project and then get an ad.
Ridiculous Number of Ads! This is a decent game overall. However, the number of ads is obscene. Sometimes you literally play for less than 5 seconds and you're stuck with another 30 second ad. I used to pay the small fee to turn off the ads on some games, but too many of them are scams lately. You'll pay the money and they will state the name of some ads, but it's not all of the ads. This isn't referring to this game specifically just many of the games out there in general.
To many adds. After every move you make there is an add. I enjoyed the actual game, but the 6-30 second adds got old. I spent more time waiting for the adds to be over than playing the game. The graphics were OK. The tools were easy to use. I wish the line to show you the shape was black instead of white. It would buzz really loud when I 'messed up but was clearly on the line. It would then ask you if you wanted to repair. If you repaired the object then your subjected to another 30 second add.
Too many ads. 30secs to move from 1 stage of the "build" to the next is a bit extreme. I can understand an ad between levels for a free game, but 2 - 4 per "level" is ridiculous. Thought it would be a fun time-waster / stress-free game to play once in a while, but after 4 levels, I'm out. Unistalling and moving on. C'mon Voodoo, we expect a bit better from you.
I really did like this game. I was just getting into it, but the ADS! I can handle some ads, but you have to watch ads after each of the 3 steps in EACH LEVEL. They are a minimum of 5 to 30 seconds. I even clicked settings to remove ads and it didn't do anything. I'd have to open settings before moving to the next step in each level in order to bypass the ads. I tried purchasing a full version to no avail. I'm sad as I have a hard time finding games I like.
