Reviews for Sonic CD Classic
The definitive way to play the lost classic Sonic game. Controls feel good to use, Platformer physics are fun and acurrate to the Original classic games but even better, the game is naturally pleasing to master, and is a great time all around. I did purchase the game to remove ads, so they keep that in mind. But other than that, the game was a blast to play.
One of the best ways to play the 3rd home console Sonic game. All the zones, tracks, and bosses are here. Did I mention tracks? ALL the tracks? Including both the US and (the much better) Japanese versions? And Tails is playable too! I just wish that Knucks could be in as well, along with a two player mode and a way to access the secret stuff (debug, sound test, ect). But that's okay, I guess. I know you guys probably won't add those in. You still did an amazing job, Whitehead.
I like the game, there aren't much adds, but when you lose you get an add, which is obviously supposed to happen since there aren't too many adds, but there is one issue. the special zones are too hard. Can you add a simple mode? And also there aren't many power ups, so can you guys add the sonic 3 and knuckles ones it in the future?(the actual future, not in the game) and also, there aren't many bosses, so can you guys make an update for all the classics? And hyper sonic too! I also recommend!😇
Wonderful port of this game.Yes, mobile controls are a pain, but if you have a PS4 or Xbox one controller, you can use bluetooth and make the game play better. There are a couple downsides though. First are the understandable ads, which I think are a bit excessive when pausing but it's tolerable if you wish to play for free. The other issue is when there are multiple sounds playing ay once, their audio crunches up and it sounds horrendous. Overall, solid Sonic CD experience on mobile.
Sonic CD is a really fun game to play, and the time travel aspect is super cool. I'm a bit disappointed that the remake couldn't give the US soundtrack unique songs for the past, but it's still great nonetheless. My only issue is when I swipe down to check the time/battery, the game pauses.
This game is incredible the only problems are that you get punished for going fast and this game has alot of ads even when you pause the game and resume it you have to wait for a ad to finish. sometimes it is frustrating especially since my hands are bigger than the phone and case it is in and it's really easy to touch the pause button on mistake and pause the game. But the graphics are beautiful and tails is unlock able even though there is no super sonic that is fine.
Very good port of the Sega CD original, done by the same person who designed Sonic Mania. Includes Sonic 2-style spin dash, which is a plus. Time Attack mode is also cool! 2 bugs, however, keep this at 4 stars: A glaring, annoying sound effect bug pointed out by other reviewers, and the fact that the achievement for getting 7 Time Stones is bugged. Even though I have all 7 Time Stones, I still do not have the achievement.
It's Sonic CD with some QoL improvements and that's about all you can expect from it. If you're a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog (1) and want something more frustrating and maze like then Sonic CD is for you. It has a great emphasis on verticality and exploration yet asks you to build up speed to get travel forward or back in time which is nigh unto impossible in the levels I played. Get it if you are a fan of the game already and want a convenient way to play.
It's Okay. Other than the ads, the port itself is really well done. The reason I'm giving it a 3/5 though is the game itself. It's just not the best. Some things, like the graphics and music are great, but the level design and time travel feature both kind of suck. The boss fight with both Robotnik and Metal Sonic is also impossible on phones.
Honestly, I love Sonic CD. I've been slowly playing the older sonic games since I got the Sonic 3 port for the Wii. The thing is (and I'm pretty sure this is an issue from my phone) the game runs at a crazy frame rate now! Like, before I'm assuming it ran at ~30 fps, but now it's running at least double that now. I'm not sure if it has something to do with my phone's graphics card or what, but the game's basically unplayable now. Too bad I already went ahead and bought the ad-free version.
