How to install Merge Sweets

Why does it take an additional 611 MB to update this app? I can't play the game without updating. I don't even know of any games that take over six hundred megabytes of data to install. And now you require that much just to update?
I was having a lot of fun with this game...bought the pass for the paper crane event and got to about 3 from the end I had to buy(I didnt) another more expensive pass to finish the last couple lines
