Somehow, I always end up having issues with this app. The movies/shows refuse to play & it kicks me out, or it won't let me give something a thumbs up... Constantly have issues. I like the idea of owning my stuff and not relying on Netflix to have my favorites, but someone needs to work on this stuff to make sure it functions properly.

The transition from Google Play Movies to Google TV wasn't clear a one for me. But, now that I'm aware of the switch, this app works well for me & my Sony A80J which is operated by Google TV. The TV remote integrates to my phone through this app, and I can see my rentals, purchases and recommendations. I hope to see an addition to the app that prompts my choice between "play on phone" vs. "play on TV," as I currently only able to play on phone, then select the "cast" icon.

Really made me miss my Roku. The keep watching feature is a joke. If an app automatically starts the next episode of a show before the credits are done, it keeps that episode in the keep watching list and it will not let you remove them. I have 13 episode of the same show on my list. They supposedly added a feature to remove them but it doesn't work, it will disappear for a second and then it pops right back up. You are much better off with a Roku player than this waste of time and money.

Frustrating, movies and shows won't stay downloaded. Shows cut off at the end, autoplay is hit or miss. Disappointing since I have a lot invested in shows and movies. Feel like I'm getting ripped off again like with play music. Other than that it plays movies and shows, so it's got that.

Play movies worked great for offline viewing (the one of the main purposes of me using this service). Most of the time it wont work unless i pre connect to the internwt which defeats the purpose of offline viewing. Has made me reconsider where i buy my shows. Hopefully they improve. UPDATE: months later i dont know... ended up buying a portable blueray player and have started watching movies on that.

Used to rent and buy movies on here all the time. Now all I can do is use it to view what's in my library or whatever I may have purchased in other apps. If I try to here. It just says that the network is down. My connection is good. They purposely are reloading people to other platforms so they have to be charged a monthly membership just to be able to get access to newer movies. Most of those platforms start off as trial memberships and then jump in price. Google must be getting kickbacks!

Since Google decided to take the Movie/TV section off of the Play store and move it here, I thought this would be a good point to reevaluate the app. Well, it seems that Google's strategy is less about "owning" content and more about connecting other services and using the app to help find/watch content. While I can get around the UX fine, it looks like it's going to be a challenge to my parents. There's just extra steps that I'll need to educate them on that seem unnecessary.

Needs work. Feels like an alpha version, maybe beta. For example: - Deals on PURCHASES shows RENTAL prices. - If I have a show in my library, why are there multiple options to pay to watch it other places? Generally, poorly organized, lacks basic features like filtering, sort direction, ... Pretty much feels like Google is trying to pawn off a ton of streaming services instead of providing an option making it easy to find a title to rent/buy. A real disappointment from Google.

Update 2: I've tried all steps to fix this and still nothing. The links Google posted for me to try and fix this are not helpful. Update: I can no longer watch anything I own in Google TV. I'm beyond angry with this. This is unacceptable. This app is terrible. Can't switch download location. Nothing makes sense as far as layout.
