Reviews for Crazy Taxi Classic
Finally! I've had a couple ports of this game on PC and Android, but none of them lived up to my experience on the Dreamcast. Until now! Thank you for making such a great port and for getting the songs back! Plus the controls are faithful on a gamepad and even easier than the original via touch! This is great!
This is like, re-living the childhood! I've had CTC for two days and I'm super happy THAT I found this gem! It's at least 80% accurate like the real CTC we know. The graphics are not astonishing but everything else is the same. The one issue I found is that the game freezes or slows sometimes but my phone is slow so maybe that's the real issue. Massive thanks to the wonderful SEGA for bringing this childhood gem back! :')
The latest update makes the game run at full speed! Crazy Taxi itself is a fantastic game, you drive passengers while trying to make the most money as possible. There is a challenge mode called Crazy Box that helps you hone your driving skills. Now all we need is the options that exist in the console versions of the game: Editing the amount of traffic and amount of starting time in arcade mode. Adding the ability to change music volume would help audio mixing (sfx is too quiet, music too loud)
Wonderful experience, but my only priblem is that whenever I tap "retry" on the pause menu, the game fails to load :/. Next, It would be great if you guys could just make the voice over audio a little louder, as I often cant hear dialogue beneath all of the sound effects and music. Also, just a little nitpick; Try to see if you can get that Dreamcast era brand placement in! It was hilarious to hear the in game characters to shout out real life locations to the player on the Dreamcast version! 😁
Is this game happy? A minimalist arcade game? Funny? Maybe better review questions would be the first patch. But using a Samsung Halo, this game isn't a problem to run. However, music tracks with usually start with a obnoxious beep or buzz, the shadows for the car are stretching across the screen, and the audio at rhe result screen seems to cut out. So instead of hearing the announcer or sound FX, it's just silence. Not sure if anyone else experiences this, but it's not the worst port ever, but it needs a patch tp fix the audio and texture issues.
Very good game plays just like yhe original only problem is a lot of glitches started to appear that were not there before in a recent update that messes a lot of things up such as some textures the options menu not working and the sound effects also not working. It is also nice to have the original uncensored soundtrack of the classic arcade version
They definitely changed the handling in this port. The cars accelerate way faster and turn sharper than on PS2. I play the game on PS2 and I struggle to get 9 passengers and a class C license(I can't remember the cash), but here I easily got 14 passengers and a crazy license. The game is still great, but they should have kept the cars handling the same, at least when using a bluetooth controller.
It was an amazing port for the NVidia shield tablet, especially with a controller using the OTG cable. However with a newer samsung Tab A, i get really degraded performance. There is a horizontal bar at the top, which cuts off the view of the game. Secondly, there is a loud BEEP between song changes. Additionally, why cant i remove the on screen buttons when using a controller? It muddles my already limited view.
I have three fairly big problems with this game. Firstly, all of a sudden, the game has started saying "Age's changed, please restart the app." after the Sega splash text. It always appears, blocking me from playing the game. Second, the whole "paying for no ads" thing is a lie. It'll always show at least one ad upon startup. And finally, even though my phone is fairly powerful, the game slows down dramatically whenever bumping into any objects or walls or anything. I don't recommend this port.
Game is festooned with ads. 3-5 still ads while selecting game settings, plus an additional SIXTY SECOND unskippable ad before starting a level. You have to sit through 60+ seconds of ads every time you want to play a 3 minute run. Unplayable. If you're like me and looking for the arcade/Dreamcast classic, this ain't it. Find yourself a decent Dreamcast emulator - this game will run on pretty much any netbook. Don't waste your time here.
