Reviews for Alto's Odyssey
It's so beautiful! I love how the time of day changes, but besides visuals, the controls felt so fluent. A wall glide felt gracefull and quick, but the gong and the feeling when you fall felt sharp and unexpcted. I really like the Zen setting, not to mention the music that plays the entire time. And above all that, its free! Really nice game. 5 stars.
I love Alto's Odyssey as a casual and satisfying game. I can slide on a rock, I can still do 50 backflips as Maya, rack up trick points with Izel, and I can watch more scenic art while doing an epic combo on some balloons. The trick to getting minimal ads is to main a character and get good. If you sucked like me, play as Maya. The longer you live in this game, the less you'll feel of ads bombarding you. I just wish the Zen mode could show the points you get from doing a cool trick combo.
I was just playing the original game the other day and thinking how sad it is that there's only a certain amount of goals to get through, and then I have to reset and go to the exact same goals again. I love these new color schemes and graphics, and the new music, but no matter how much I turn up the volume of the music is still very quiet. I have issues jumping over some of the chasms, they're just marginally too long to jump across. I love the wall riding concept. It's fun and introduces a new element to the game play, but I agree with some of the reviews the tutorial was excessive and gave me the same hint/tip over twenty times. After I'd crash-landed once, the game gave me a tip to back tap or something to wall ride better, which is not something that was in the tutorial.
Amazing game!!! I love the detail and the amount of effort that was put into designing this as well as the first one but a job well done!! Also I wanted to bring up a problem that I've been having. There's music in the background and I like it, it's relaxing, but after I watch the first ad, it'll start glitching out and repeating certain parts of the song and it's super frustrating and distracting. Please fix otherwise I would give 5 stars!!
First of all, awesome game. Very fun, and feels smooth... When it's actually working that is. What I mean is, most of the time, after about ten minutes of playing the game or less, it lags out to the point of it's unplayable. Once, I saw my "Best Distance" flag right on the other side of a small cavern, but it was lagging then and I couldn't time my jumps properly because it didn't register untill much too late. I can close and re-open the game and it temporarily fixes the problem, but not well.
Not much better than Alto Adventure. Its fun i guess but the tutorial was bugged on my device and would keep looping the jump chasm part. Also im not sure if its intentional or not but its extremely hard to tell the difference between rock obstacles and background trees/bushes when it is raining or nighttime. This was never an issue in the old game for me and i maxed everything out on that one.
It's a good game, and I enjoy playing it. It's basically a better version of subway runner, I love it! My only problem is the sound track (which is beautiful by the way) seems to always be continuously glitching no matter how many times I open it and then close it again. It also frequently will completely glitch with the graphics as well, freezing for a few seconds and then next thing I know I'm way ahead and have either already died or have to struggle to catch back up to what's happening. Beautiful game in general, please plese just fix the bugs.
Great game but some of the worst ads I've ever seen in a game. I like the smoothness and ease of controls. I like the weather and time change effects. It's fun to veg out with, but they throw 30 second ads at you every other time you play. Plus, you can't get out of them. And, when it's over you have to fast forward then, "X" out of them. It's like they are fighting for your attention between the game and the ads! I like it but it just too irritating to validate dealing with it.
There are goals that simply cannot be reached. I did 10 backflips like 10 times and it never counted. Now I have to do a wall ride and a flip across a chasm....only one problem, I have never seen a chasm with a rideable wall in front of it. How am I supposed to complete a goal if there is no place in the level to execute it? Stupid. Uninstall.
When initially run, it was a great time waster and was very calming and relaxed. But if you close it and reopen it... expect tons of loud and unskippable ads, a ridiculous difficulty spike, glitched/invisible obstacles (trees are suddenly considered rocks..??), etc. My suggestion to the creators: have ads for revives/continues, and have the ads play at the game's volume, not full blast and inflicting physical pain on your players.
