Reviews for MuseScore: sheet music
It's very painful to use since on phone, the wbesite limits you to two songs and forces you to download this app which can't even find the songs that you found on the website. Every time you open it, there is a pop up telling you to buy a subscription because you get to access more. Since there isn't any other places to go to find music that I'm specifically searching for, I have to continue this process. The content from lots of other people is pretty cool, a whole community helping each other.
There is something untrustworthy about a practice who relies on auto renew subscription to lock in their profits. I had the same experience of being signed up automatically for a year thinking it was a trial period but I decided to keep the year subscription to try it out and support this app anyway. I swear I took off the auto renew but it auto renewed anyway. They refused my request for a full refund. My fault for not canceling I guess but now seeing similar reviews. Will not recommend.
Really should make it a bit more clear that this is more like a paid app than a free app with in-app purchases. After going through the "personalization" intro, you're taken to a monthly subscription screen, and the only ways through are a 7-day free trial and/or subscribing. *Apparently according to their responses to other reviews there should be a "close" or "x" in the top left of the screen. I didn't see anything. I could easily have just missed it, but it could be much clearer to the user.
The app was very good, and the website was incredible. There's a reason why I'm using past tense though and that's because this website has slowly moved towards NEEDING money to be good. Locking things that were previously available for free behind really highly priced paywalls. It's just disappointing because I would always use this website to get my music, but everytime I log on, things I used to be able to do get taken away and placed behind their subscription.
I can say with confidence that this Musescore app is convenient. It is a great place to find and print sheets easily and that's good. You can even create your own sheets for free. The only thing to take away here is that there are some bugs. For example, whenever I try to adjust sound or tempo on a sheet I'm looking at, I can't exit out in any way except to close the app completely and come back on. Also I can't select a part in a song I want to hear maybe because I need musescore pro.
There are different limitations online compared to the app. Online, you can't transpose but you can change instruments. On the app you can transpose but not much else. Lyric text overlaps on some scores making them illegible. I complained about the app annoyingly asking to rate every score. I thought this was fixed but is now worse and asks to rate upon opening a score and AGAIN after it finishes playing. It feels like they're giving me the middle finger with that one. One star.
seems like a very lovely app! i play viola, piano, uke and am trying to get into guitar and this has so many things. it would be cool if you could purchase individual tools. like i don't need the lectures or many playback features, but i would purchase just the mixer for viola. violas don't frequently have the melody or solos so i would like to be able to hear just the viola to know how it should sound. i think the ability to purchase individual tools would be great.
The UI is nice and intuitive BUT You need to fix the MIDI export feature. You can't download the files directly, I can only share it with cloud services. And it doesn't show up as a "MIDI file" either. The browser version of this works perfectly though.
Not a good experience. I originally started playing and writing music with my brother on the PC version, (which I would recommend) I wondered if they had a mobile version, and they did. When I tried it, their subscription got shoved in my face everywhere that I went, it showed my buttons and wanted me to use them but whenever i tried to click on them, It would force me to sign up for their subscription. The biggest problem I had with it was that most of the scores would not load or play.
My god, I have not seen a worse designed app. As a sheet music repository it's fine enough, but god help you if you're trying to use the player in the app. Anything done in landscape mode is immediately reset as soon as you touch ANYTHING on the screen, including the play button, not to mention a giant navigation bar is glued to the top which takes up nearly a quarter of most phone screens. A decent library, but a miserable app
