Description
Foobar2000 is a free but advanced audio player for mobile devices. In addition to its minimalism, it is also considered to be quite flexible in terms of settings. Every connoisseur of quality sound will love this audio player. The application has a fairly well thought-out audio section. And the graphical interface is a kind of constructor.
Program interface
At the very first launch, the user will be prompted to customize the application interface in just 3 clicks. To do this, he will need to use the parameters:
- general view;
- playlist view;
- colors.
Customization of the player using extensions is also available. Extensions, for example, can be used to change the player's skin. There are no skins in this application that are used for everyday purposes. The application consists of panels. Each panel can be easily customized with flexible options.
Playlist columns are also customizable. You can work with them through the context menu on the column headings. The list can be located both on the sidebar and in a pop-up form. The user needs a media library so that he can add all music compositions to the player.
Among the formats supported by the application are: MP3, MP4, AAC, Vorbis, Opus, FLAC, WavPack, WAV, AIFF, Musepack.
Application Features
Among the main functions, the following are worth highlighting:
- work with open components, with the help of which developers can extend the functionality of the application;
- transcoding supported audio formats;
- continuous playback;
- audio coding;
- leveling volume with ReplayGain (as well as playback and scanning);
- advanced file handling;
- bulk edit;
- advanced customization of the playlist display;
- configuring hotkeys;
- work with the music library.
Additional features include support for playing and downloading music from UPnP media servers.
In order to use the full functionality of the application, you can download it to your smartphone with Android OS for free.
Application foobar2000 was checked by VirusTotal antivirus. As a result of the scan, no file infections were detected by all the latest signatures.

Reviews for foobar2000
Love it - just a nice simple music list builder and player, with all the options I want, and none of the annoying graphics I don't. I have it on both my Android phone & my desktop PC (where it doesn't insist on taking up the full screen). No frills, just useful options. Start it up, pick your playlist and get on with your day.
Agree with another reviewer, small player clears too easily from notifications menu. Also, if you press back too much and view other lists while a song is playing, you can't access the song's screen easily, you have to research it in the appropriate list. In shuffle mode, it should also be able to shown us the next songs with options to shuffle individual songs around in the queue. Lastly, can you make it connect to other streaming devices, please. Like to my tv, or google play.
If you think Foobar2000 is the only decent full-featured music player on Windows, then this will likely be the only music player that you'll be happy with to play your local music on your phone. It has all the important features and quirks you expect from a simplified version of Foobar2000. It plays according to ReplayGain values and can write missing values. A personal favorite of mine is the ability to order albums by year and not by title. For double albums, it has the ability to group each disc together as one album and play all songs continuously. They did a great job compromising the power a good music player can offer with the ease of use needed on a phone. They only thing missing is Foobar for Linux, but it's never been open source.
This is becoming my go-to app on Android for listening to my offline music collection, primarily because it can play all my files. The only other app I've found that can play all my files is VLC. For 99% of users, I'd recommend a different player. Pi Music Player and Musicolet are both great apps for offline listening and can play most files. If those other apps are giving you some problems, though, or if you're interested in some other DSP options, then give foobar2000 a try.
As a couple of others have said, I have also been having trouble with foobar ever since the Android update. It will play between one and maybe four songs then stop. I have to completely close and restart the app before it'll play again. Normally I love this app and I've been using it for years without any problem. I'm hoping that an update will come through that'll fix the problem soon. I really need to be able to listen to my albums right now.
foobar, usually consistently good, wouldn't be leaving a review otherwise (not a typical reviewer type), but there is a bug with .miniusf playback, which instead turns into a series of rhythmic clicks, every second. I re-downloaded my files, but it happens still, even to albums I already had in storage prior. I hope this is addressed soon, because this app helps fill the void that permeates the darkened days, of this decade of the 2020's.
Excellent, but missing a proper shuffle album function (you still have to pick a first song?) and a go to album/artist option when playing a song. EQ is very good, even better than my paid Shuttle app, but some missing features makes me have to go back and forth. However, the PC version has been my go-to for a long time, replacing WinAmp. Keep supporting the developer!
It used to work great on my phone! Untill it didn't allow me to add music, at all. It doesn't allow me to access folders or downloads from either the internal storage nor an SD card. It could be a glitch, but this has happened on more than one device for me. Basically it doesn't do the one thing it is made for, being a local audio player.
I really like this app. It's incredibly fast, offers a ton of accessibility and customization albeit with a couple issues. I'm on the LG V50 and im going to compare this to the default music player on the phone. First very minor issue is album art doesn't always show but will on the default music app. And the other issue was how 24bit flacs are processed. At low volume I get this hissing sound whereas on the default music app I don't. Damn near perfect app for my needs but needs little tweeking.
I have no trouble working this app. Tips to those experiencing problems: 1) Have your sample rate adjusted correctly. 2) Try downsampling to mono so you can isolate problem frequencies easier, then switch back to stereo to test your adjustments. This usually produces a more clear output. 3) Don't touch EQ if you have no clue what you are doing. A common misconception is to raise the EQ when you should lower it to reduce peaking or distortion. Volume gives you the ability to hear things better, EQ gives the sound better quality.
